Shades of silence (intimate edition) – a one-on-one vocal inquiry
with Alice Hui-Sheng Chang
Shades of silence (intimate edition) is a one-on-one inquiry using voice, embodiment, and arts. Together we explore the movement of breath and vocal sound, and listen to our vocal expressions in life stories and experience.
Alice will companion you in your explorations using sound, movement, embodiment, enactment, drawing, collage, poetry, or a walk outside. In these playful explorations, you might find new connections to a life experience that was puzzling, dazzling or simply stuck. If we listen in, you might be surprised by what we hear in the silence.
I am a vocalist and sound artist, practicing locally and internationally since 2003. My passion in working with human voice is the exploration of sounds outside of conventional language and melody.
I have a MFA in Sound Art from RMIT and a MA by supervision from Melbourne Institute of Creative and Experiential Arts Therapy (MIECAT), with final research titled Dream Embodiment, adventuring intimately via voice and creative arts. I have conducted vocal workshops since 2006, and have worked with one-on-one companioning since 2012. I have also facilitated therapeutic work at Melbourne Art Therapy Studio, Abbotsford Convent and MIECAT.
Number of sessions and duration are flexible, depending on your inquiry.
